While COD 4 added perks and MW2 incorporated huge kill streaks, Modern Warfare 3 has added a slew of new improvements to the game including new modes, new guns, and more. Modern Warfare did not innovate as much as the previous two titles from the Modern Warfare series, however the new features have nearly perfected the Call of Duty multiplayer game play. Here is a list of the 5 most important extensions Modern Warfare 3 included.
1. Point Streak System
To begin, the point streak system was probably the most distinct aspect included in Modern Warfare 3. In contrast to the single kill streak system in previous games, Modern Warfare 3 gives three different options, assault, support, and specialist. The assault package is identical to the kill streak system in Modern Warfare 2. By continuously killing enemies you can accumulate a reward, however if you die your streak ends. The support system is different in the fact that if you die your kill streak does not end, however the rewards are less powerful and support the team. Weapon proficiency and weapon level is perhaps the smallest adjustment to the game, but it definitively makes a considerably difference in multiplayer game play. Call of Duty revolves around the guns more than anything else in the game. The ability to carefully choose and customize a gun adds a whole new level of personality into the game. Each gun is much more unique which makes users particularly attached to their gun. Although this is only a slight tweak, I think it makes a large difference in game play and I really enjoy it.
4.New Game Modes + Theater Mode
Modern Warfare 3 has added 2 new multiplayer game modes, kill confirmed and team defender. Kill confirmed is identical to team death match, however after you kill an enemy you must collect their dog tag. If you are not able to it does not count towards your team’s score. You can also collect team mates’ dog tags to deny the enemy team kills. In team defender you basically try to maintain the flag control and protect the team mate carrying the flag. You also receive points for killing enemy team members. Finally, Modern Warfare 3 has continued Theater Mode, which is not really innovative but still is well received by many fans.
